Let's make World Refugee Day 2018 a Day of Action for our communities across Australia.
We invite you to build a pop up home in your city this Refugee Week and bring a special item that represents your home. We want pop up homes in ever city, state and territory to tell our Government
Send a powerful message to our leaders and media, together let's ‘build’ a pop up home by holding treasured objects from our own homes and telling personal stories about the meaning and significance having a home to live in.
With local music, key notes from community leaders and stories of home from people with lived experience of seeking asylum.
There will be time for interactive storytelling and noise making with saucepans and wooden spoons!
Photos and video of stories from the event will be posted on social media to create a digital ‘storm’.
For the 15,000 men, women and children throughout Australia who are being removed from vital support services and face destitution and homelessness. And 1,700 people indefinitely detained on Manus and Nauru.
Venue TBC for each city.
