Tell Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Immigration Minister Peter Dutton: Let Them Stay
Right now there are 267 asylum seekers in Australia who the Immigration Minister, Peter Dutton, is threatening to send back to offshore detention camps on Manus Island and Nauru.
Among the 267 people are young babies born in Australia and kids currently going to local primary schools. There are cricket fans and accountants and great cooks, who fled war and terror to seek safety in our community. The 267 even include women who have been sexually assaulted on Nauru and now face return to their abusers.
Tell the Prime Minister - don’t send them back.
This half-day meet-up will be an opportunity for young people (30 and under) to learn how to play a key role in shifting public attitudes about the issues that affect people seeking asylum.
We will begin by exploring the current research about shifting attitudes, as informed by the Words that Work research. Check out this resource for more info.
Once we have our heads across all of these tools, we'll begin taking action to shift attitudes in our own lives, whether that's through conversations with friends, Facebook posts or a meeting with an MP.
