Getting on the #RightTrack is up to all of us!
Join us for an evening of advocacy and storytelling where we will outline how we can work together to create a more welcoming community for people seeking asylum.
WHAT: #RightTrack Sydney Community Action Launch
WHEN: Wednesday 2 August, 6-8pm
WHERE: Pitt Street Uniting Church, 264 Pitt St Sydney
#RightTrack is a grassroots, community-led campaign that aims to achieve a sustainable change in community attitudes on the rights of people seeking asylum.
Our aim is to train hundreds of new leaders and mobilise thousands of people to take action in their local communities in support of safety and freedom - 'changing the conversation' in the general community, in turn driving a shift in attitudes from fear to fairness.
In Melbourne and Brisbane, over 600 people have already attended our Community Action Workshops, gaining skills and confidence to have values-based conversations about the rights of people seeking asylum, and planning their own community-based actions to shift public attitudes. Now it's Sydney's turn!
Together we can build a wave of public support for policies that represent the best of our shared values - and where the public leads, we know our politicians will follow.
- Carmen Lazar OAM, CEO of the Assyrian Resource Centre, helping to welcome over 6000 refugees from Syria to Sydney over the last 12 months;
- Hani Abdile, "child of African and woman of Australia", and award-winning slam poet
- Tanya Jackson-Vaughan, Executive Director of RACS, Sydney's leading legal service for people seeking asylum;
- Jana Favero, Director of Advocacy & Campaigns, ASRC
Join with us as we work together to create a shared future with people seeking asylum that is guided by fairness, dignity and decency.
