We are a community that stands up for freedom, fairness, and dignity for all.
Last year, communities across the country stood with people seeking asylum to demand our leaders #LetThemStay, and the Government had no choice but to back down on its threats to deport people seeking protection in Australia back to harm on Nauru and Manus Island.
The Government has now begun its second attempt to force people living in our community back to Nauru and Manus Island, without any plan for a safe future for the people who have already been imprisoned there for more than four years.
Join us in standing with people seeking asylum in our community and in our Government's care offshore. Sign up and join the movement by calling your local MP to demand the Government #LetThemStay!
Erin Kennedy rsvped for Brisbane Meet Up 4: Write for #RightTrack, December 7 2017-10-27 14:12:24 +1100
To coincide with Amnesty International's annual "Write for Rights" campaign, we'll be using "Words that Work" to write for #RightTrack. Whether it's letters, emails and Christmas cards to MPs, to creating content for twitter, facebook or if you have aspirations to be a skywriter - we'll be getting practical with words and writing in support of rights for people seeking asylum.
Feel free to bring a charged laptop if you'd like to work on emails or online content, otherwise we'll have everything you need to put pen to paper over a drink, a bite to eat and a chat!
All are welcome, but please RSVP so we know how many places to book. Check out The Burrow menus.WHENDecember 07, 2017 at 6:30pmWHEREThe Burrow
