We are a community that stands up for freedom, fairness, and dignity for all.
Last year, communities across the country stood with people seeking asylum to demand our leaders #LetThemStay, and the Government had no choice but to back down on its threats to deport people seeking protection in Australia back to harm on Nauru and Manus Island.
The Government has now begun its second attempt to force people living in our community back to Nauru and Manus Island, without any plan for a safe future for the people who have already been imprisoned there for more than four years.
Join us in standing with people seeking asylum in our community and in our Government's care offshore. Sign up and join the movement by calling your local MP to demand the Government #LetThemStay!
We are a growing movement of people from all walks of life who care deeply about the humane treatment of people seeking asylum.
From the crisis on Manus Island to the despair of people who have been denied a fair process for seeking asylum in Australia, we know our Government's policies are abhorrent and have to change. But how?
Join us for a morning of inspiration and action as we share and discuss the #RightTrack political strategy for winning real policy changes on Fair Process, Permanent Protection and the end of the cruelty of Offshore Detention.
We know these changes will not be won overnight. We need a new strategy that complements the amazing advocacy and activism we already see - one that 'goes local', creating and demonstrating shifts in community opinion at the local level, driven by local community leaders, targeting local politicians.
The ASRC is joining with like-minded individuals and community organisations, including Mums 4 Refugees and the Social Justice Forum of the Uniting Church Synod of NSW and the ACT, to collaborate on this community action strategy. Are you in?
This will be a morning of learning, inspiration and action. We will come together to meet others who are passionate about a fair process for people seeking asylum and want to share ideas on how we can take action to build local community power and influence decision makers.
